Cat Workshops Dog Classes
Facilitated by a professional grief counselor from By the Bay Health, this free virtual meeting will allow you to connect with others who have experienced the loss of a loved animal. The grief we experience when we lose an animal companion is unique, so come share your grief and learn skills to help you on your journey toward healing.

Love hitting the trails with your dog but worried about encountering a venomous snake? Join us for a one-day rattlesnake avoidance training seminar using positive reinforcement.
Rattlesnake avoidance training focuses on the skills you and your dog need to stay safe in your backyard or hiking the trails. Awareness is important when living in rattlesnake areas and this seminar will teach you and your dog how to respond if you cross paths with a rattler. Using only positive-reinforcement methods, we will focus on specific training behaviors, as well as visual, auditory, and olfactory cues specific to snakes. No live snakes or punishment tools are used in this seminar.

Thinking of having pet chickens? Don’t know if they are right for you? This class will show you what is involved in keeping them in your backyard, and teach you the basic requirements like housing, food, and maintenance. It will help you get ready for the arrival of these new pets in your family.
This class will be presented ONLINE by Isabelle Cnudde of Clorofil, a nonprofit micro-sanctuary for farmed animals.
Meet photographer Elizabeth Needham, the new “artist in residence” at Sausalito Books by the Bay, and support Marin Humane!
Elizabeth’s evocative portraits of San Quentin inmates with dogs from Marin Humane’s Pen Pal program will melt your heart. The Pen Pal program started in 2005 pairing dogs with select good behavior inmates. The dogs and inmates are allowed to live together, while working on rehabilitating the dogs for adoption. The connection between the inmates and the dogs is quite simply the definition of a win-win scenario.
All proceeds from the sale of photographs at this special event will go to Marin Humane. Anyone who donates $500 or more will receive a signed print. Elizabeth’s photography will be on display through March.

Presented by American Safety & Health Institute certified instructor Peter Pay, this hands-on workshop teaches basic lifesaving techniques and preparedness, including basic pet first aid, CPR training, rescue breathing, restraint and muzzling, choking management, poison response, and much more.
Included in the First Aid & CPR workshop is a first aid workbook and completion certificate.
Please leave your animals at home. “Resus-a-dog” and “Resus-a-cat” manikins will be available for hands-on training.

You have pet chickens and want to learn how to keep them happy and healthy. This class will show you how to enrich your backyard, introduce new chickens to your flock, perform health checks, and treat some common injuries and illnesses. This is our advanced chicken care class. If you are new to chickens, we recommend you start with the “Gearing up for pet chickens” class first.

CycleBar Novato and Marin Humane are celebrating Be Kind to Animals Week today Sunday morning, before and after morning classes. Adoption animals will be on-site to greet the cyclists and raffle prizes will be awarded to those who post photos on Instagram of themselves with their furry friends – be sure to tag @cyclebarnovato.
