Join us at this free, family-friendly event as they aim to raise awareness about the thousands of homeless animals in the Bay Area.

Bird Basics @ Marin Humane

Presented by Maggie Rufo from local bird rescue organization Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue, this workshop is designed to give bird guardians, and those thinking of adding a bird to their family, the tools they need to prevent or correct behavior and health problems.

Bird Basics will address proper avian care and diet, symptoms of illness and first aid, general husbandry, taming and training, and much more.

Bird Basics is FREE to the public, but registration is required due to limited space. Please do not bring your birds to class.

Dr. Susan Friedman is a psychology professor at Utah State University who has pioneered the application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to captive and companion animals. ABA, with its roots in human learning, offers a scientifically sound teaching technology and ethical standard that can improve the lives of all learners.

Students from 22 different countries have participated in Susan’s online courses. She has written chapters on learning and behavior for veterinary texts and is a frequent contributor to popular magazines. Her articles appear around the world in eleven languages and she has presented seminars for a wide variety of professional organizations.

She has been nominated for the Media Award given by the International Association of Behavior Analysis for her efforts to disseminate to pet owners, veterinarians, animal trainers, and zookeepers the essential tools they need to empower and enrich the lives of the animals in their care.
