Virtual Puppy Workshop and Q&A – MODULE ONE @ Online Zoom class

Has it been a while since you’ve had a puppy? Have you forgotten how to get through the first few months? Are you struggling with house training, those needle teeth, and jumping up?

This 60 minute Zoom workshop will be lead by a Marin Humane dog training instructor. It’s designed to give you some of the basics you’ll need for surviving life with a puppy, and will have ample time for questions.

For pups up to six months.

Does your kitty use its teeth and/or claws too often? We’ll discuss aggression/reactivity in cats, how to recognize when it’s going to happen, and what you can do to prevent it. Learn about cat behavior and get practical tools to help you understand what your cat does and doesn’t like.

Join our Humane Education coordinator on Facebook each Monday at 3 pm as she introduces her personal animal companions. You’ll get to meet dogs, cats, chickens, a rabbit, a tortoise, snakes, and maybe some turtles!

It will focus on understanding “marker words” and start to build training exercises such as attention, find it, and sit. These basic commands will enable you to ask your fast-growing pup for alternative behaviors when he is exhibiting undesirable behaviors.

Virtual Puppy Workshop – Module One is a prerequisite for this workshop.

ONLINE What is My Cat Saying? @ Online Zoom class

Cats are probably the most misunderstood of all domestic animals. Would you like to better understand what your cat is saying and how your body language affects your communication with your feline friends? You’ll get new insights into cat behavior.

Pet loss support groupTHIS MEETING HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY, MAY 18 AS A VIRTUAL MEETING.

Facilitated by a professional Hospice by the Bay grief counselor, this support group will allow you to connect with others who have experienced the loss of a loved animal. The grief we experience when we lose an animal companion is unique and if you have experienced a similar loss, come share your grief and learn skills to help you on your journey toward healing.

CANCELLED Animal Photography for Kids @ Marin Humane

WE’RE SORRY, THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Join us for a fun photography workshop! Our theme will be “A Day in the Life at Marin Humane” as we photograph daily activities and shelter animals at our Novato campus. Prior camera experience is not required. Instruction and handouts on basic photography principles will be provided and the main focus of the workshop will be on techniques to capture great photos.

What to bring:
• Digital camera (fully charged). If at all possible, please bring a dedicated digital camera.
• Memory Card (empty)
• Extra batteries

At the conclusion of the workshop each student will leave their digital storage card with the
instructor. Photos will be uploaded to a private gallery for viewing and the card will be returned by mail. Each student will receive a set of five original greeting cards featuring their favorite photos. A limited number of digital cameras are available for use during the class for students who do not have access to one.

The class will be taught by Kathie Meier, longtime Marin resident, Marin Humane volunteer, and avid photographer.

Recommended for children ages 10 – 14.
