First and foremost, all our animals are safe. We’re so fortunate to have a large group of awesome foster families who stepped up to the plate right away to open their homes to our animals. We’re supporting these foster families of course with plenty of food, supplies, and guidance.

Yes! Marin Humane is offering adoptions by appointment. If you’re interested in adopting a specific animal, please contact us by phone or email so we can learn a bit more about you and make sure the animal is a good fit for your family. After that, we’ll work with you by phone or email to complete the process, including payment for the adoption fee. When you pick up your new family member, we’ll ask you to follow specific safety protocols to minimize your interactions with our staff. We ask that you follow these carefully, for your safety and for that of our staff. Please contact us by (415.506.6225) or email. You may also view pets available for private rehoming.

Thanks for asking! At this point, we don’t need any more foster volunteers, but we’ll be sure to reach out if that changes.

We’re continuing to provide round-the-clock animal services to the county. This includes rescuing pets and wildlife in distress, lost and found animals, and other emergencies. Please call 415.883.4621 for urgent concerns.

Because we’ve had to scale back the number of staff at our shelter, if you find a lost animal, we’ll ask if you can keep him/her safely for 24 hours or longer. During that time, we’ll make every effort to find the animal’s guardian and will provide transport for the animal if we do. If you cannot safely keep the lost animal, we’ll pick him/her up as soon as possible.
-
We’re continuing to support clients who are enrolled in our Pet Safety Net and Pet Care Assistance programs with free pet food and supplies. This includes delivering needed items to their homes. Please contact ahumphrey@marinhumane.org if you or someone you know is struggling financially and requires assistance.
-
Please contact us! We have many free options available for you to help you keep your pet, including free pet food, pet supplies, and behavior advice. If you still need to surrender your animal, we ask that you make an appointment. Please fill out the Guardian Questionnaire to start the appointment process. We know this is a difficult time but we need to manage the animals in our care and provide as much safety for our staff and the community as possible. Please also consider our free private rehoming service.

Behavior & Training is currently offering a limited number of smaller classes that will primarily be held outdoors and are posted on our dog training page.
If you are having trouble with your canine (or feline) friend, Behavior & Training has a number of 1-on-1 services to help (private training, onsite consultations, and virtual consultations). Please email ohbehave@marinhumane.org or leave a message at 415-506-6280 and we will help you get set up for these services.
And check out our online cat workshops or learn more about consultations.

We’ve made the difficult decision to suspend spay/neuter surgeries offered to the public. Spay/neuter is one of the most central tenants of animal welfare but it’s critical we don’t put our staff and the public at risk by performing surgeries which are not emergencies.
