Pre-authorization must be obtained for coverage of all veterinary expenses. You must call the Pet Safety Net program office at 415.506.6255 before making a veterinary appointment. Arrangements will be made with pre-approved local veterinarians who participate in the Pet Safety Net program. Any expenses already paid cannot be reimbursed.

In an emergency after hours or on weekends, you may call Marin Humane at 415.883.4621 and follow directions to speak to a staff member. Marin Humane personnel are on duty 24 hours a day. Every effort will be made to provide appropriate care. If an animal is in need of immediate care, where any delay will put the animal at risk, it is the owner’s responsibility and duty to seek care for the animal immediately. There is no guarantee that the Pet Safety Net program will be able to provide financial assistance.

All Pet Safety Net program participants are expected to abide by Marin County and city animal ordinances. Anyone who violates these ordinances may be denied further program assistance.

We provide veterinary referrals, which should not be construed as an endorsement of any kind. We do not endorse, recommend or promote any one veterinarian over another. The ultimate decision and agreement to retain the services of the veterinarian we refer you to is your sole responsibility as the animal guardian.
